One of the most unique challenges of this project was incorporating 22 different colours, a personal request from Master Yun. While such a wide palette had the potential to overwhelm, our design approach ensured that colours, furnishings and paintings harmonised beautifully, creating a cohesive yet dynamic visual journey across all three floors.
A vibrant red was used for the stairwell, an unconventional choice which could have turned out poorly if executed without careful consideration. Our designers worked closely with Master Yun and Mr Kan, resulting in a red that contrasted and complemented the gold frames of Master Yun’s paintings beautifully.
With Lotus on Water, we aimed to create an immersive experience, where design, heritage, Fengshui, and art come together to inspire and rejuvenate. The result is a one-of-a-kind interior that reflects the vision of Master Yun Long Zi while respecting the legacy of a historic Singapore shophouse.
